"I, not events, have the power to make me
happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead,
tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be
happy in it." Groucho Marx
As we live our lives, we encounter different events; both good and bad which we have no control over. More often than not we attach a priceless gift to those events; our happiness.
Regardless of our different beliefs, the fact remains that
you were born and you are going to die one day. During the time in between, you
choose whether or not you want to enjoy the experience. Happiness is a precious
gift which thankfully we have the freedom to choose whether we want it or not.
Being bothered about life events isn't going to change
the world anyway; rather it just makes you miserable. It’s bad enough that we
sometimes allow our happiness to depend on our actions and even worse when we
allow it depend on the actions of others we have no control over their
behaviour. For example, if you say to yourself; “If only my friend didn't betray
me, I would have been happy”. That is simply making your happiness conditional
and giving others the power to control it. There should be no ‘ifs or buts, go
on and take charge, it’s your life. You
have limited time in this life and what's not really reasonable is not to enjoy
it.
Learn how to be truly happy with these 5 tips:
1) Love and appreciate yourself, others and the world around
you
2) Refrain from unhealthy comparison
3) Don't dwell so much on the past. Learn the lessons it
brought and move on
4) Learn to take life simple
5) If any part of you begins to be unhappy or makes
you feel there's a reason to be unhappy, meditate and speak to yourself to let
go.
If you learn not to close your heart even when you encounter
the not-so-good events in your journey of life, you will begin to notice the
great things around the corner. You have all it takes to be happy today don't
wait until tomorrow. If you slip from your happiness vow, pick up yourself as
soon as possible.
I've tried it and it's paying off, you too can.
